When teens are offered an environment that is safe, entertaining, accepting, consistent, enriching, affordable, and comfortable, they will show up! Velocity provide an arts-infused lounge and Cafe, providing teens with a place to have build healthy relationships and a sense of community.
Through developing these relationships, Velocity teens will feel a deeper connection to and empathy for others. This will inspire them to engage in a variety of community service based on their talents, availability, willingness to serve, and specific needs in the community. For example, teens will be found mowing lawns for the elderly, clearing new paths and planting indigenous shrubs at nature preserves, and sending out regular teams of teens to serve meals at soup kitchens. Velocity teens will be spotted manning city parades, moving college students into dorms at the start of fall semester, and reading to children at the library. Velocity desires to alleviate the current outcry of community needs as well as attempting to supplement city budget deficits with volunteer hours.
