Because south Florida is so appearance-obsessed, there seems to be a growing disparity between assumed and actual health. Unfortunately, Palm Beach County fosters a wealth of unhealthy (and potentially life-threatening) behaviors such as eating/image disorders and sexually transmitted infections. Velocity desires for students to develop a healthy body image, healthy habits, and healthy strategies for dealing with stress, failure, and general hardship. Means to this end include health education, peer mediation, conflict management, nutritional assessment, and meditation.
